必修4 Unit 1讲义----重点单词、短语和句型必背 学好英语背单词很重要，但是若只会机械地背英语单词，而不会熟练地使用单词，则想学好英语是很难的。若想熟练地使用英语，则多背每一个单元的重点单词、短语和句型的例句，则是一个行之有效的方法。若能坚持每天多背诵单词、短语以及句型的例句，学以致用，日积月累，则会收到事半功倍的效果。为此，笔者特意整理了本人讲课的每个单元的重要单词、短语和句型的经典例句，希望对广大英语学习者有很大的启发与帮助。 重点单词 achievement n. 成就；功绩 In the last few years, China has made great achievements in environmental protection. 在过去几年中，中国在环境保护方面取得了重大成就。 It is offering a way for us to change our lives and achieve our dreams. 它向我们提供了改变生活和完成梦想的方法。 shade n. 荫；阴凉处 vt. 遮住光线 There, sitting in the shade against its strong trunk, I read my books, ate my candy and drank my orange juice. 在那里，坐在树阴下，靠着她强壮的树干，我读着书，吃着糖果，喝着橙汁。 The children played in the shade of a large beach umbrella. 这些孩子在一把巨大的海滩遮阳伞下的阴凉处玩。 worthwhile adj. 值得做的；值得的；有价值的 It is worthwhile to read English classic novels if one wants to learn English well. 如果一个人要学好英语，那么读英文经典小说非常值得。 We never know the worth of water till the well is dry. 井干方知水可贵。 observe vt. 观察；观测；遵守；庆祝 She spent years observing and recording their daily activities. 她花了多年的时间来观察并记录黑猩猩的日常生活。 When I passed his house, I observed him playing in his yard. 当我经历过他的房子时，我观察到他正在院子里玩。 Thanksgiving Day is observed as a general holiday by the American people. 感恩节是美国人民的一个公众节日。 respect vt. & n. 尊敬；尊重；敬意 For forty years Jane Goodall has been outspoken about making the rest of the world understand and respect the life of these animals. 40年来，简·古道尔一再让世人了解并尊重这些动物的生活。 I hope airlines can show more respect for passengers and improve service. 我希望航空公司能更尊重旅客并改进服务。 argue vi. & vt. 讨论；辩论；争论 She argued that wild animals should be left in the wild and not used for entertainment or advertisements. 她主张应该让野生动物留在野外生活，而不能用于娱乐或广告。 How I regretted arguing with her about the important question, which made us all unhappy. 我多么遗憾与她争论这个重要的问题，结果让我们都不开心。 support n. 支持 vt. 支撑；支持 Your support is important to our work.
