When Disaster Struck, Help Came From All Sides
The deadliest earthquake took place in Tang Shan in 1976, which hit the headlines and main title of all the newspapers. It was the big event of the quake that shocked the whole nation because of the huge damage caused by it.
According to the outline of a reporter, who is a cyclist, millions of brick houses and the dam of canal were destroyed. A great number of people were either injured or dead, what’s worse, many people were buried in ruins and trapped under the mine well,where pipes burst and smelly steam let out from cracks. Frightened survivors went through extreme suffering and the whole city was paralysed by the disaster as if the world was at an end.
However, fortunately, when disaster struck,help came from all sides:a number of rescue workers from all directions gathered in Tang Shan, including soldiers, medical workers, volunteers and even students. With the help of them, the injured were dug out from ruins, useless tracks were repaired and electricity, fresh water and shelters were provided. Visitors sincerely expressed gratitude to rescuers with tears in their eyes.Congratulations! The city gradually came to life.
